How Christ Sees Me
At the April Forge Gathering, we talked about how Jesus sees us today. We talked about how we were created by God, in love, by love, and to experience His love. He saw humanity as very good, and as something that He made in his image. When sin entered the world, humanity became separated from God, and we were seen by him as sinful, dead in sin, though still loved. God saw the problem of sin and the people that He loved, and He sent His Son, Jesus, to make right what had gone wrong, and to give his life as a sacrifice to die in our place.
God loves us so much that He also gave us a choice: to choose life in Him through Jesus or life on our own apart from Him. If we choose to receive His gift of life through Jesus, then He gives us the right to be called sons and daughters of His, coheirs with Christ, and we receive all the benefits and blessings of His kingdom that He has declared are ours in Jesus.
He did this so that we could live in and with Him as those who have been made right and are seen as righteous through His gospel work. We are brought into new life in Him.
As one who is dearly loved, we need to learn how to live into and become all that He has declared that we are in Him! That is a lot. As we come into agreement with this reality of how He sees us, and begin to apprentice Him and walk with Him in faith, we become the kind of person that He created us to be, and we increasingly represent and demonstrate who He is and what He is like through our lives.
As we begin to see ourselves the way He does, we will see that we are (Ephesians 1:3-14; 2:1-10) :
Sons and daughters
Reconciled to and with Him
Forgiven and made free
Beloved children and coheirs with Christ
Seated with Christ in God in heavenly places
Victorious ones
People with spiritual authority
Given the mind of Christ
As we begin to become aware of this and even agree with this, we will begin to increasingly believe what He says about us to be most true, and we will live as if that is the most important thing about us. This will also inform how we live our lives with God, with others and even ourselves, and this understanding will affect how we will interact in any environment and how we deal with spiritual attack and warfare.
We are given ALL these benefits and blessings as a part of the kingdom and a right relationship with the King. These are all for us in Christ.
